Renowned Bulgarian puppeteer, Gina Pavlova, has added another puppet-making workshop to her December schedule.
Gina Specializes in creating puppets and scenes from non-figurative objects such as tablecloths, ropes, and umbrellas. In this workshop she will show participants how to expand their creative thinking and encourage them to see the emotional potential in the commonest of items.
I had the pleasure of seeing Gina in action a few weeks ago, when she gave a demonstration of her creative puppetry at Every Picture Tells A Story. I was amazed at how she turned plastic bags into reindeer and rabbits and created wind with old blue tablecloths. Even more enraptured were the kids who assisted her and their friends on the floor who watched the show.
Her methods and source material may be simple but her execution is sophisticated and deliciously imaginative. Her workshops have been enjoyed by a mixture of professionals, students and parents and their children.
Gina and her inspirational puppetry adds sass and class to the “Reduce, reuse. recycle” song.
December’s workshop is geared towards adults and adolescents and no previous experience is required. In January Gina will be teaching a workshop for advanced participants.
