One-stop Eco Shopping in Santa Monica

green-life7

Jessica has been raving about The Green Life ever since it opened in July 2008, and I had some time to check it out this week.  This super eco-friendly shop - located north of Ocean Park on Santa Monica’s Main Street - is great.  As I walked in, shop owner Scott O’Brien was unpacking some new products - beautiful serving trays carved from sustainably harvested wood made by an LA based company called Amenity Home.  Scott’s enthusiasm was clear and catching, as he showed me some of his favorite products.  He has a fabulous collection of housewares and bedding, green cleaning and gardening products, bath and body lotions and potions, and that’s just the beginning.  Much of what he carries, I had only seen at  Green Festivals and I’m delighted to have a local source.  And my dear hubby now knows that our next tea kettle will be a ceramic one from Ceramcor, which keeps the water hotter longer and won’t burn if all the water boils away (it has been known to happen!)

If you still haven’t returned your old Sigg bottles, he’s offering an exchange for 20% off Eco Lust stainless steel bottles.  And for all you packing up lunches on a regular basis, he also has some good zero waste stuff, including Wrap-N-Mat Washable Sandwich Wraps, and stainless steel To Go Ware - love the little sidekick size, not to mention lots of cool lunch boxes.

And love this sentiment from his website:

The Green Life sprung from owner, Scott O’Brien’s, move toward a more eco-conscious lifestyle and his yearning for a one-stop shop for lifestyle and home products made of organic or eco-friendly materials. “I wanted to create a store where people would be encouraged to do the same by finding everything they need for their home and body, without sacrificing quality or the planet.”

Have you been to The Green Life?  Tell us about it, and any other eco stores you like.
