Can a Tee Shirt Save the World?

We’re hoping so!

jennifer-croppedJessica and I had wanted to do a tee shirt for some time.  Ours came together this summer after finding the three key rights:  the right message, the right shirt and the right printer.  Here’s the story of our journey:

We knew clothes can carry a message, and we wanted ours to be a positive one - full of hope for the possibility of a greener world, a world that would last for future generations living in more balance with the natural world.  We worked with Jessica’s friend Sam Hamann to find the right composition and wording - he made our ideas come to life and captured a posterized feel that is both bold and deep.  But for people - especially moms - to actually wear that message, the shirt itself would have to be a good one:  soft cotton, good neckline and organic.  Especially organic. We also wanted something the whole family could enjoy, with kids’ and men’s sizes.  After visits to showrooms, web searches and samples, we finally found our perfect blank.  We chose two colors - Ocean Blue and Earthy Coal.  And then, the search for a printer.  We wanted to support a local business - which turned out to be convenient for color checks - and get it silk screened in a more eco-friendly way.  Our solution was found right here in Mar Vista.

So we know that a tee shirt can’t actually save the world, but we hope that people who wear it can green some part of their lives, and support others to do so as well, and that it will create the change that will make a difference.  It might be just walking your kids to school, or choosing mostly organic produce.  It might be spearheading a green team at your child’s school or sparking a green initiative at your church or temple.  It might be giving greener gifts or getting out of the single-serving, single-use habit.  By doing any of those things, you WILL inspire others to do the same.

We love this shirt, and we think that you will, too.  Check out our shop page for all the details and ordering information.  And then, send us pictures of you, your friends and family wearing the shirt and we will post you in our shirt gallery.  Here’s a start:
