A Siggnificant tip
I was reading LACityMom the other day and I learned that Whole Foods is exchanging old “BPA leaking” Sigg bottles for brand spanking new ones- free of charge. Sound too good to be true? That is what I thought until I gathered up my family’s dented bottles, marched into the whole foods on Lincoln boulevard, plopped my aluminum booty down on the customer service counter and was told I could pick out any of the shiny new Siggs hanging on the wall. Yippee!
My daughter chose a new purple upgrade for school but I was unable to find a replacement that got me jazzed. I returned to customer service and explained my predicament to the man in charge and he wrote me out a store credit (good at any Whole Foods) for the full value of the other bottles. I resisted the temptation to spend it at the cheese counter- though that is still an option- I am free to spend this credit as I choose.
The bottle exchange program is good through Oct. 31st. If you don’t have a whole foods near you, or would like to choose from the entire array of Sigg bottles on the market, you can send your old bottle to the Sigg Exchange Program and choose your replacement from their entire online catalog. Don’t send your top/cap. Sigg is actually suggesting we keep them as “they will serve as handy extras for our replacement bottles.”
In order to determine if you qualify for the exchange program, compare your bottle liner to those pictured at right.

WHY WOULD YOU BOTHER WITH SIGG ANYMORE?
Switch to stainless steel. We moved our family to botl. http://www.my-botl.com. why even flirt with the issues that can come with aluminum? Is it worth it?
SIGG also makes a steel bottle. Do they have those at Whole Foods, or just the newer aluminum EcoCare version?
I heard that the EcoCare liners tend to chip at the mouth piece. I guess from the top screwing off and on. Anyone have that problem?
Huh! I didn’t know that Sigg made a stainless steel bottle. I did not see them at Whole Foods but they might have been sold out. Honestly, it’s probably better to just replace with stainless steel and avoid the whole aluminum issue ( as Brock mentions in his comment above).
