HUG A TREE DAY- EMBRACE THE BARK.

by jessica on September 22, 2009

samara-hugging-treeToday is not just any ordinary Tuesday. It is the autumnal equinox and “hug a tree” day.

Today Jerry and Marissa Rubin are staging the first-ever holiday dedicated to tree hugging and they are inviting us all to join them.

It’s really quite simple: walk outside, find yourself a nice tree, wrap your arms around it and squeeze. Make it a family activity or invite your neighbors or co-workers to join you. It’s all about thanking those fabulous trees for the many aesthetic, environmental and life-giving attributes they provide.

If you’re interested in a “group hug” you are invited to join Jerry and Marissa at noon in Palisades Park (Ocean Ave. at Colorado Ave., just north of the gateway to the SM Pier). There will be poetry, music and discussions centered around giving thanks to the evergreens.
