Sustainable Works Tells Us How
Have you been wanting to learn more about living greener? Shrinking your ecological footprint? Saving money on your water bill? Here’s a golden opportunity that will cost you nothing, and promises to save you up to $200 a year on your utilities bill. The workshop - taught by Nancy Barba of Santa Monica’s Sustainable Works - will be held at St. John’s Presbyterian Church at 11000 National Blvd, starting on Thursday January 28, 2010 at 7pm and continuing for six sessions weekly through March 4, 2010. The hour and a half workshops will cover the topics of water, energy, waste, chemicals, shopping/food and transportation in interactive, action-oriented ways. Thanks to a community improvement grant from the Mar Vista Community Council, the class - which usually costs $75 for Los Angeles residents - is free. Can’t get better than that! But actually it is - according to the Mar Vista Green Committee blog, lots of local businesses contributed give aways and discounts to workshop participants.
MVGC Vice Chair Jeanne Kuntz and I were talking it up at the Mar Vista Farmer’s Market yesterday - we’ll both be attending. We signed up 15 participants, and there is lots more space available. If it sounds like just the right thing for you in 2010, sign up here. If you’re not sure you can commit the time at the moment, check out Sustainable Works Top Ten Things that You Can Do - which is actually the 11 areas of focus for the Santa Monica Office of Sustainability and the Environment.
Will you be at the workshop? Let us know.
